What is a care partner?
A care partner is a person you select during your pregnancy or delivery process to be your support during your stay and during your postpartum period. This individual should engage in education and be prepared to be supportive of your needs and recovery.
What can my care partner do to support me?
Care partners can be an essential part of your care team. Care partners can support moms by:
- Encouraging rest and sleep by caring for baby while mom rests.
- Ensure moms are hydrating and receiving good nutrition.
- Being present and participating in education. Taking notes or ensuring they understand how to replicate help at home.
- Help with visitor control. Your care partner knows you well. They can help with visitor communication and limit visitors while you’re learning or resting.
