The Pathways Family Education Program is a free monthly support group designed for family members, friends and loved ones of individuals struggling with addiction. Led by Gwen Wheeler, MHP, the program creates a safe and welcoming space to learn about addiction, how it affects families and how to provide healthy support.
Each session covers topics such as:
- Understanding addiction from a family perspective
- Setting healthy boundaries
- Practicing self-care as a support person
- Recognizing when involvement may be unintentionally harmful
Open to any family member, friend or loved one of a person with a substance use disorder.
Sessions are small and personal (usually 8–10 participants), offering a supportive environment for open conversation and practical guidance.
Groups are held in the Board Room at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
