Our approach
Centra College offers an 8-week, hybrid Nurse Aide Education Program at Centra College's main campus site in Lynchburg, Virginia. It is also offered at a branch location in Appomattox, Virginia. Clinical experiences are provided at Centra in both acute care and long-term care facilities. Licensure is required for employment as a Certified Nurse Aide. The Nurse Aide Education Program is approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
Centra College’s Nurse Aide Education Program participants will obtain licensure as a Certified Nurse Aide through successful completion of the NNAAP exam. Certified Nurse Aides will work within the scope of practices for a Nurse Aide in the state of Virginia within hospitals, long term care, facilities or home settings, and will be able to accurately recognize and report changes in a patient, resident condition to the appropriate nursing staff; provide the necessary skill set to care for patients, residents per care plan and be knowledgeable to work within their scope of practice in the Nurse Aide role.

For 2027* and beyond, we'll be offering:
- March Course - Lynchburg
- May or June Course - Lynchburg
- May or June Course - Appomattox
- October Course - Lynchburg
