Visitor Check-In

To ensure a safer and more secure acute care hospital environment, Centra utilizes an enhanced visitor management system and security platform, used by leading hospitals across the country.

This system properly identifies and verifies all visitors, and tracks who enters each facility and their intended destination to maintain a safer, more secure environment for patients, visitors and employees.

When you arrive at any Centra acute care hospital:

  1. Check In at the Main Entrance - All visitors will be asked to check in with assistance from a Centra team member.
  2. Provide a Valid Photo ID - A driver’s license, state ID, passport or other government-issued photo ID will be required at check-in.
  3. Quick Security Screening - The system will perform a routine visitor screening, similar to what is done at many hospitals nationwide.
  4. Receive a Photo Badge - After check-in, you will receive a printed badge with your name, photo, purpose of visit and approved destination. Please always wear your badge visibly while inside the hospital.
  5. Check Out When Leaving - Visitors will be asked to return their badge and check out before exiting.

Visitor Check-In FAQs

evolv WDSWeapons Detection System

Lynchburg General Hospital (LGH) Emergency Department utilizes a weapon detection system designed to be fast, efficient and minimally disruptive, enhancing protection for patients, visitors and Caregivers while maintaining a welcoming and respectful environment.

The weapons detection system uses advanced sensor technology and artificial intelligence to screen visitors and the belongings they carry as they enter the facility. Designed to distinguish potential threats from common personal items such as cell phones, keys and wallets, the system helps streamline the screening process while maintaining a safe environment. If the system identifies an item that requires additional review, security personnel will conduct a brief, targeted follow-up screening to quickly resolve the alert.
