Welcome To The Marketplace

Welcome to Piedmont Community HealthCare's “Individual Marketplace.”

For all current Piedmont members:

Your specific 2019 plan and premium information – reflecting all tax credits - will be contained in a letter to you from Piedmont which will be mailed to you prior to November 8, 2018.

We encourage you to wait for this letter before taking any action.

To be enrolled in the plan at the premium contained in this letter, you do not need to do anything. Absent any activity on HealthCare.gov, you will automatically be enrolled into the Piedmont plan which is referenced in that letter. You do not need to access Healthcare.gov unless your personal information requires changing.

For all current Piedmont members who might qualify for Medicaid:

Virginia has expanded the eligibility for Medicaid coverage starting January 1, 2019.

The new regulation allows able-bodied adults at 138% of the Federal Poverty Limit (FPL) and below to qualify for Medicaid coverage.  There are some additional requirements as well. If you are determined to be eligible for Medicaid on Healthcare.gov, you will no longer qualify for tax credits to help pay for your Marketplace plan.  For additional information on Medicaid expansion, see www.coverva.org.

If you begin the enrollment process on HealthCare.gov and are determined, based on the information you provide, to be Medicaid eligible, you will lose your tax credits, even if you choose not to enroll in Medicaid.  We encourage you to discuss Medicaid eligibility with a local Medicaid expert prior to accessing Healthcare.gov.

Additionally, if you elect to enroll with Medicaid, your Piedmont Marketplace plan will not automatically be canceled by the Marketplace for 2019. You are still required to contact the Marketplace to cancel your 2019 coverage, or you can opt-out of the Batch Auto Reenrollment process during through the Marketplace.  If you enroll in Medicaid, visit HealthCare.gov or call 1-800-318-2596 (TTY: 1-855-889-4325) to cancel your coverage for 2019.

For anyone who is not currently a Piedmont member:

Piedmont is Central Virginia's only locally headquartered healthcare insurance carrier offering individual Marketplace plans in accordance with the Affordable Care Act. We offer competitive rates in addition to the desired benefits set forth by the Affordable Care Act on both individual and family health plans. You will have the opportunity to choose between a Gold, Silver, or Bronze level plan when deciding your plan and/or that of your covered family members.
